Professional Experience:

I have approximately one and a half to two years of field-based professional experience in community development, public health outreach, and socio-economic research, gained through work with medical institutions, NGOs, and grassroots communities in Assam and Manipur. My experience combines direct community engagement with research-oriented field activities.
I worked as a Social Work Trainee at Silchar Medical College, Assam, where I was involved in examining family planning services under the Gynaecology Department and assessing their impact on local communities. I supported and coordinated community awareness programmes on reproductive health, contraception, and HIV/AIDS prevention in collaboration with ASHA workers, Gram Panchayat representatives, and teachers. This role strengthened my understanding of public health systems, community mobilisation, and institutional coordination.
I later worked as a Community Development Worker in Barik Nagar, Assam, for six months. In this role, I collaborated with Gram Panchayat members, Anganwadi centres, and ASHA workers to support community welfare and development initiatives. My responsibilities included conducting educational sessions for primary school students, assisting households in accessing safe drinking water through the Public Health Engineering department, and organising skill training awareness programmes. I also supported blood donation and eye check-up camps in partnership with non-governmental organisations, which enhanced my experience in programme coordination and stakeholder engagement.
In addition, I served as a Community Engagement Volunteer in Ghungoor Kaur Par, Assam, for six months. I conducted household-level socio-economic surveys, led health and hygiene awareness activities for children, and supported cancer awareness and health check-up camps in collaboration with Cachar Cancer Hospital. This experience strengthened my skills in data collection, community interaction, and field reporting.
Overall, my professional experience reflects sustained engagement with rural and marginalised communities, providing a strong foundation for roles in research, programme implementation, monitoring, and community development.

Education:

I am currently at the final submission stage of my PhD in Social Inclusion at the Centre for the Study of Social Inclusion, Manipur University. My doctoral research focuses on the rural livelihood systems of the Poumai Naga Tribe of Senapati District, Manipur. The study examines livelihood transitions, sustainability, and socio-economic challenges through the lenses of Indigenous governance, customary law, and ecological knowledge, using a decolonising and participatory research framework. This training has strengthened my ability to conduct in-depth qualitative and quantitative research, policy analysis, and community-based fieldwork in rural and Indigenous contexts.
Prior to my doctoral studies, I completed a Master’s degree in Development Studies from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai. The programme provided strong interdisciplinary grounding in development theory, social policy, governance, gender studies, and research methodology. It enhanced my analytical skills and equipped me with tools to critically assess development interventions, welfare programmes, and social inclusion policies, particularly in marginalised and rural settings.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Assam University, Silchar, where I developed a strong foundation in social work practice, community organisation, and social welfare administration. During this period, I gained early exposure to fieldwork, community engagement, and applied social research, which shaped my long-term interest in grassroots development and issues related to livelihoods.
Overall, my educational background combines rigorous academic training with applied, field-based learning. It has prepared me to work effectively in research, programme implementation, policy analysis, and community development roles, particularly those focused on rural livelihoods, Indigenous communities, gender equity, and social inclusion.
