Professional Experience:

I am a development communication specialist, social impact storyteller, and founder of Qissa-Kahani, a communication and behavior change enterprise focused on amplifying grassroots transformation across India. Over the years, I have worked extensively with leading development foundations, CSR initiatives, and international organizations on projects related to rural development, public health, clean energy, climate resilience, and community mobilization. My expertise lies in translating complex policy frameworks and field interventions into compelling visual narratives, impact films, educational tools, and multilingual IEC materials that create measurable change on the ground.

Core Identity and Professional Purpose
I work at the intersection of creative communication, development strategy, and community engagement. My professional objective is to empower communities through knowledge dissemination and to support organizations in demonstrating the impact of their interventions with credibility and clarity. I believe that effective communication is not a supporting function in development—it is a catalyst that directly influences behavioral outcomes, adoption of government schemes, public health practices, and stakeholder engagement.

Qissa-Kahani: My Organization and Mission

As the founder of Qissa-Kahani, I lead a specialized initiative dedicated to designing narrative-based interventions for the social sector. The organization works with foundations, international agencies, CSR programs, and nonprofit institutions to create tailored communication assets. These include impact documentaries, data-driven thematic films, IEC comics, training modules, health awareness materials, clean energy adoption guides, and digital content designed for mass outreach. My work is field-intensive and insight-driven, grounded in real stories of individuals whose lives are directly shaped by development programs.

Qissa-Kahani is now evolving into a Section 8 company with the long-term vision of becoming India’s first dedicated communication institution focused on nation-building through storytelling. The aim is to build communication infrastructure for development—where stories are not limited to documentation but are used as tools for education, mobilization, fundraising, training, policy advocacy, and large-scale behavioral change.

Rural Development and Social Impact Work
One of the most significant chapters of my professional journey has been my work with a national-level foundation operating a large-scale rural development program in Uttar Pradesh. I have worked across multiple thematic areas, including maternal and child health, agriculture, water conservation, sanitation, digital learning, and livelihood generation. My role involved field travel, conducting interviews, capturing transformation stories, and producing both audio-visual and written reports that highlight progress, challenges, and real-world impact.

Through impact films and field documentation, I helped bridge the gap between community realities and donor expectations. I developed comprehensive visual content that demonstrated behavioral change, community participation, and sustainable adoption of development practices. This work helped strengthen transparency, improve program visibility, and support future funding and scalability.

Education:

I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW), a qualification that has provided me with a strong academic and practical foundation in the areas of community development, public welfare systems, social policy, and grassroots engagement. My education in social work equipped me with a deep understanding of how sustainable change is achieved through structured interventions, community participation, and strategic communication. It also enabled me to understand the psychology of communities, the dynamics of behaviour change, and the socio-economic realities that influence development outcomes in India.

During my MSW programme, I was exposed to key subjects such as public health systems, social legislation, rural development, gender studies, CSR frameworks, and community mobilisation strategies. This academic exposure helped me develop a holistic view of development practice—not simply as a policy-driven space, but as a field that requires emotional intelligence, cultural sensitivity, research-driven insights, and inclusive communication.

Fieldwork was an integral component of my education. I actively participated in rural immersion programmes, NGO internships, and community outreach activities, where I worked closely with beneficiaries, frontline workers, and programme implementers. These practical engagements provided real-time understanding of implementation challenges, stakeholder relationships, and the critical importance of communication in driving awareness, adoption, and social transformation.

In addition to my Master’s degree, my academic journey has always been aligned with my professional goal of contributing to the development sector. I constantly stay updated with new frameworks in development communication, public health strategies, environmental policies, and CSR norms through continued learning and sector-based training workshops.

My education did not just prepare me for a profession—it shaped my vision. It crafted my understanding of how media, research, and behaviour change tools can be used to bring real impact at the grassroots level. The MSW programme deeply influenced my approach to development work and allowed me to confidently enter the field of social impact storytelling, where my academic background now supports my practical engagement with foundations, CSR teams, and frontline communities.

In summary, my educational background in MSW has been the core foundation of my professional journey in development communication, equipping me with the knowledge, ethics, and field orientation required to work towards inclusive social change.
