Introduction: Much of the world’s most important data traditionally comes from direct observation and in-person interviews. As the impact of COVID19 is growing and in-person data is needed more than ever to inform policy and programs, the methods used to collect in-person data and traveling is becoming more challenging and risky. Even when the situation improves, the main concern will be safety versus the ease and remote data collection will likely continue for years to come. Everyone is exploring how to continue their work through alternative and complementary methods of reducing in-person interactions and collecting data remotely and safely. Many are considering a shift to mobile data collection or computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI).

As a SurveyCTO service provider, we at Trestle Research realized that few professionals might require additional and personal handholding support while moving to phone-based data collection. Hence, we are organizing a 5-session training on mobile data collection using SurveyCTO.

- Transforming paper-based survey forms into digital copies (ODK/SurveyCTO).
- Designing and testing complex survey forms, learning randomization and setting up automatic workflows for preloading data.
- Adding quality and data monitoring checks, integrating digital forms with external tools, and visualizing incoming data in real-time.
- Building your own CATI kit and field tracking systems for collecting data offline/online through phone/web.
- Learning best practices for collecting high-quality, secure data – both online and offline.
- The Safe People + Data Initiative of SurveyCTO (that focuses on helping to ensure that data can continue being collected safely)
Who Should Participate? The training will be helpful to the professionals/organizations that are transitioning from paper to mobile/remote data collection and looking to adapt their data-collection to changing needs. The training is ideal for academic researchers, research associates and managers, M&E and NGO/CSR professionals, and SurveyCTO/ODK users.
Training and Fee Details: There will be two batches (5 sessions per batch and 2 hours each). The 1st batch would be from 22nd June to 26th June 2020, and 2nd batch from 13th July to 17th July 2020. Time will be 4 to 6 PM IST, and the language of communication will be English and Hindi (if required). Fees per batch is INR 3000 (+GST)/USD 75.
